A.W. Becker participates in YouTube event with Canadian namesake

Recently, A.W. Becker staff were contacted by the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce related to a request by the City of Selkirk in Manitoba, Canada. The Canadian city was working to connect with towns and cities named Selkirk throughout the world as part of a virtual holiday celebration video.

A.W. Becker Principal Neubart and a few of her staff shared a video of them in front of the Selkirk, NY Post Office, as well as a video of a kindergarten class outside of the school. Both videos will be included in the project. The video will run live on the City of Selkirk’s YouTube page and is scheduled for viewing on Friday, December 18th at 7pm central daylight time Canada, which makes that 8 p.m. eastern standard time for our viewers. The video can be found on the Holiday Alley YouTube page here. Holiday Alley is a project of Red River North Tourism and an extension of Homes for the Holidays Red River North Tourism Home & Heritage Tours.

A little fun fact-based trivia for you. Did you know that Selkirk , N.Y. is approximately 3,430 roundtrip miles from Manitoba, Canada? That’s a one-way trip of 1,715 miles. Pretty neat to see how technology allows communities and countries to communicate to share fun ideas around the holiday season. All it took was a minute to share a few videos and we’ve made a small city in Canada achieve some special holiday magic.
