The district continues to keep our community updated on items related to COVID-19 news updates, health information and guidance from New York state. We are aware that repeated, sometimes daily, emails to our families and community about positive cases is valuable to some families and an irritation to others. Regardless, the continued communication of this information is important to all.
In order to better meet the needs of all families, the district will no longer be emailing every RCS family when there is a positive COVID-19 case within our district. Instead, beginning Monday, March 1, our daily COVID-19 notifications if/when there are positive cases in the district will be shared on our COVID-19 Notification page. This page is readily available on the banner at the top of the district homepage. Updates will be made at approximately 5 p.m. daily if there are any positive cases to report (Monday-Friday while school is in session).
Please note a few items related to our new process:
If there will be no community message on the district website posted for a particular school day then the district did not receive confirmation from Albany County Department of Health (ACDOH) of any positive cases for that day.
No changes will be made to how we communicate to families/staff who are personally impacted by a positive case. Impacted families will always be notified as soon as possible once the district has received notification of a positive case and tracing has been completed. Notifications will come from the RCS District by email and phone call.
Please note that the most recent notifications will appear at the top of the COVID-19 Notification page and items will be removed 10 days after posting.
Here’s an example of how cases will be reported on the web page:
1 case associated with RCS Middle School with the last possible contact on 1/31/21; At this time the DOH has deemed that no students or staff members are considered a close or proximate contact with this individual.
1 case associated with RCS High School with no possible contact; At this time the DOH has deemed that no students or staff members are considered a close or proximate contact with this individual.
