Our RCS Health and Safety Committee met this afternoon and discussed the governor's press conference that was held earlier today, June 7, 2021. The conference provided updated information around COVID safety protocols in schools. Based on this new information, RCS is lifting the mask mandate for students and staff when outside beginning tomorrow, June 8. Social distancing will still be expected while inside or outside. As per the Department of Health, masks will still be required inside our school facilities and on buses.
Update from the NYS Department of Health, 6/7/21: Effective June 7, 2021, face masks are not required to be worn outdoors on school grounds, including during outdoor school sports. However, Responsible Parties may choose to require face masks outdoors on school grounds subject to the parameters of this guidance. No student, teacher, staff member, or visitor may be prevented from wearing an acceptable face mask voluntarily on school grounds.
