On Thursday, June 17 the RCS Athletic Department, in partnership with the RCS Sport Association, held an awards ceremony at Joralemon Park to recognize the accomplishments of RCS student-athletes. The event celebrated RCS student-athletes in each individual sport and presented the End of the Year awards.
This year, marked the fifth and sixth times in the history of the RCSSA Athletic Awards that the district had Co-Athletes of the Year. For the female athletes, Lauren Sanderson and Grace Engel were named Co-Athletes of the Year, joining the only other pair of female co-winners from 1987, Jackie Mulligan and Terri Baker.
For the male athletes, Jared Lamson and Jason Reif were also named Co-Athletes of the Year. They become the fourth pair of male athletes to share the award, joining Kevin Reinisch and Gary Jones (1998), Dylan Keyer and Connor Zeoli (2013) and Jack Kerrigan and Matt Ferriero (2017).
In addition, the Coaches Award was presented to Caitlyn Deluca and Ernie Greene, while the Sportsmanship Award winners were Shayla Weisheit and Nate Eacho. The Scholar-Athlete awards, along with an individual $250 scholarship, went to Grace Engel and Jared Lamson.
