Please join RCS tomorrow, Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in celebrating one of our legendary basketball players, Curtis Blackmore. Curtis was inducted into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame this week. He graduated from RCS in 1969, was a four-year starter, and a member of the 1968 Class B Championship team led by Coach Howie Tucker.  Curtis was the leading scorer in the capital district and a Times Union All-Star. He once scored 54 points in a game vs Watervliet! Curtis’ jersey is retired at RCS and he was an inaugural member of the RCS Athletic Hall of Fame.

After RCS, Curtis played basketball at the University of Buffalo from 1970-73. He is the University's all-time leading rebounder and is second all-time in scoring. He set 12 scoring records in his time there while averaging 16 rebounds a game. Curtis also holds the university record for most rebounds in a single game with 29. He was inducted into the University of Buffalo Hall of Fame in 1982. He nearly played in the NBA for the Buffalo Braves in 1973. Curtis currently lives in Atlanta, GA but will be attending a reception at the RCS High School cafeteria on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, from 5-8 pm. The event is open to the entire community.
