Ravena Coeymans Selkirk bus driver Becky Walker was awarded the 2023 AAA Hudson Valley Safe Bus Driver Award on Wednesday, June 14.
The award is given to drivers who present themselves in a positive and safe manner. They follow all regulations set forth by the multiple agencies that govern transportation, including the state Department of Transportation, state Department of Motor Vehicles, and state Education Department.
Other factors include reliability and attendance, and the district’s transportation department says Walker far surpasses all expectations.
“Our transportation department has received multiple calls about Becky being a positive influence on their child and teaches them the proper emergency procedures of a bus,” the department shared soon after presenting the award. The transportation department nominated Walker a few months ago. “She could not have been more deserving of this award!”
